Pupo furious with Trenitalia: we touched a train tragedy

The Italian singer Pupo was angry with Trenitalia: the singer is traveling by train for his tour and, in recent days, according to his account, he touched a railway tragedy.

The singer chose his Facebook profile to tell the story: it all happened Sunday, August 21 while he was going to Reggio Calabria on a Frecciabianca train, stopped because of an unexpected. These are the words of the singer:

"Incredible, for an error of the driver, we stopped at Cancello Stazione for two hours. The great geniuses of Trenitalia strike again - admitted Pupo - It seems that the driver realized by the landscape that the railway line he had taken or rather, they had opened, was wrong [...]

We had to go in one direction and we went in another. We came back down [...] I hope I exaggerate, but to what they told me, we could have touched another railway tragedy. "

For Italferr two new orders in Egypt

Italferr strengthens its presence in Africa with two new contracts in Egypt by signing with the Egyptian Railways (Enr) a construction management contract for the modernization of signaling systems on corridors Benha - Zagazig - El-Ismailia - Port Said and Zagazig - Abu- Kebir.

The new agreement comes after the positive results obtained by Italferr for the design work carried out in the same area. The activities will begin in September and will last 48 months.

The order is worth 3 million Euro and is in addition to activities that Italferr, in partnership with RFI and Italcertifer, is deploying for the migration project to the signaling system Etcs Level 1 on the corridor Alexandria - Cairo - Asyut.

This second contract, worth 2.2 million Euros and with a duration of 27 months, was awarded after an international tender launched in July 2014, in which Italferr positioned itself in front of large international engineering companies.

This order strengthens the collaboration between Italferr and Egyptian Railways, also because of the restructuring project of local the railways lasted six years and successfully carried out by FS.

Five new electric trains Newag "Impuls II" for FSE

The new era of Ferrovie del Sud Est begins with the purchase of electric trains "Impuls II", in production at Newag’s factory of Warsaw and Nowy Sacz. "Impuls II" is the evolution of the model "Impuls" already marketed by Newag in Poland.

The first five modern trains will arrive in September, then to these might be added a further 10 in the next five years. According to rumors, this new generation of electric trains would be the result of radical changes to the original plan, suggested by the experience gained through the previous products. Regarding the livery, the manufacturer had to meet the needs of the customer by developing a scheme based on red, with black bars and white/silver.

In September, will be delivered to FSE the first 5 trains, for a total cost of 20.2 million Euros. By virtue of the framework agreement signed December 10, 2015, the option could be exercised also for the supply of 10 additional trains in the next five years, at a cost of 40.4 million. For Newag, which intends to expand its market, this is the first overseas contract of electric trains.

Trains will be used on the Bari-Taranto line and on the Mungivacca-Putignano via Casamassima recently electrified, waiting for the electric drive will be extended to other lines.

Technical tests for the "Frecciarossa" on the line Taranto-Roma

Trenitalia has begun testing to see if the line is likely to allow the transit of high-speed trains.

If there is a favorable opinion, the service could start in the next few months, improving the rail links between the city of Taranto and Roma, passing through Potenza and Salerno.

On the project of Trenitalia, therefore, remains vigilant the member of Parliament Ludovico Vico which states: "We have met the Undersecretary Umberto Del Basso de Caro (Ministry of Transport) who confirmed the agreement  we called with the resolution on rail transport area of Matera and Taranto-Roma via Potenza - between Trenitalia and the regions of Basilicata and Puglia, for fast connection Taranto-Ferrandina-Potenza-Salerno-Napoli-Roma. Now agreements are not yet finalized - says Vico - but agreements are coming for a “Frecciabianca” and from Salerno a "Frecciarossa". In addition, we met 20 days ago President Pittella and in the coming days we will request a meeting with the regional councilor for transport of Puglia, Giovanni Giannini. "

Railways in Campania, turn over a new leaf

The regional councilor Luca Cascone, who always takes care of the Campania Region Transport, announces the turning point: "By 2017, will enter in service several new rail vehicles of which only three between Piedimonte Matese - Napoli, namely the former Alifana"

These in detail the actions listed by the regional councilor:

CIRCUMVESUVIANA:
1) "The EAV fleet will soon be expanded with the commissioning of 21 of the 26 MetroStars trains. In 2016 it was signed a transaction with Ansaldo was for an enhanced maintenance of which it was paid the first installment in July and which, starting from now and to 2-3 months, will allow to have new trains besides the 10 new in service. We will have stylized trains and we will overcome all the technical problems (there are 21 trains on which we are intervening while another 5 are damaged and deserve a special maintenance contract). It has also starts a contract with the German company EuroMaint for 12 revamping trains and with former Firema today TFA (that an Indian property detected from failure) for the revamping of 25 other trains. It is starts again, at last, the order and we will have the first trains from March 2017. The 37 trains including 12 Euromaint + 25 TFA (ex FIREMA) are indeed an order of 2014 (€ 81 M) with European funds no longer expendable that have been moved to give continuity to the contract on the new programming. "

SEPSA:

1) "The contract with CPF for 13 revamping trains, strated in 2006-2007 sees currently only 6 trains in service. We have at the end of 2015, and in 2016 released the payments and beyond those on duty will have one train every 2/3 months.

2) Production of 12 new trains with Ex Firema/Tfa unlocked after a long negotiation with the settlement signed in August 2016. The first four trains will arrive in November 2016 and then from mid-2017 others 8. "

METROCAMPANIA:
1) "9 new trains unlocked with transaction Firema 2 already delivered + 2 in ANSF for approval on RFI network that we hope to see in September.

2) 3 revamping waiting for news, for now it is still the job that we hope to release by the end of 2016. At the end of this important commitment in recent months now EAV, with the constant support of the Region, will continue with the same commitment to a reorganization and restatement of ordinary and extraordinary  processes of maintenance, programmed or not, because even in this area will have to go back to be an innovative and cutting edge in Italy. Governor De Luca and the entire government team, are devoting maximum attention even at this very sensitive sector that has very specific technical aspects, to which for too long the policy has paid little attention, spending months and years for bureaucracy and ministerial authorizations, litigation and technical problems. Since the end of 2016, it will be possible to record significant progress after a few months spent in resolving many issues. The Board has also considered for further investment (Resolution of reprogramming of June 2016) in new trains for lines on which up to now no one had invested. We think: for Metrocampania provided 15 million Euro to purchase 3 new diesel trains for Alifana (Piedimonte Matese) and 10 million Euro for 3 new trains for the subway line Piscinola /Aversa.

Passengers will experience the charm of historic carriages Centoporte - dating back to the ’20s and ’30s and Corbellini - ’50s and - pulled by a diesel locomotive of the ’60s – they can live the experience of a journey back in time, in the green heart of Irpinia.

Tickets are already on sale on all Trenitalia channels: Trenitalia.com website, app Trenitalia, station ticket, self-service and authorized travel agencies.

You can also purchase on the train, at no extra charge, compatibly to the availability of places.

The line Avellino-Rocchetta Sant'Antonio, inaugurated in 1895 by Francesco De Sanctis, is 120 km long and runs through the regions of Campania, Basilicata and Puglia, along the valleys of the Sabato, the Calore and the Ofanto rivers, and passing by 217 meters above sea level of Rocchetta to 672 meters of Nusco.

Along the route, there are 31 stations, including 58 viaducts and metal bridges and 19 tunnels, artifacts of exquisite - and sometimes unique - architectural and engineering value.

"A binary as tortuous as fascinating and that embellishes, blending into the green of the territory, the heart of Irpinia. A railway of silences, for the sweeping and relaxing landscapes offered through the train window. A great tourist opportunities for these territories and which deserved to be part of the investment of Fondazione FS," said the Director of Fondazione FS, Luigi Cantamessa.

Concluded the interventions of recovery of tracks and stations, which will allow the use for tourism purpose in the future of the entire line, the Avellino - Rocchetta will come, thanks to the economic contribution of the Campania Region, to be part of  “Binari senza tempo”; a National project of Fondazione FS that, since 2014, has given a new lease of life to about 240 km of lines that are no longer local public transport services.

Back to life the historic Ceva-Ormea railway

In 1885, when it was decided to implement it by passing beneath the mountains that divide the Granda from Imperia, the intention was to get to the sea. With ten stations. However, to the last one, Oneglia, it never came. Because the rail line Ceva-Ormea, meanwhile exceeded in the political strategies of the future Cuneo-Nizza ended in Tanaro Valley. It was only the first misadventure of a troubled history, including protests and cuts, up to the final one on 16 June 2012, when Ferrovie dello Stato considered it a dead branch. In a few weeks, however, the train will return to travel the valley as a tourist line.

After the first trip made in early February, the planned races will be five this year: Sunday 11th and 18th September, on 16 and 23 October and 8 December. Each journey will be dedicated to a theme and a place in particular, involving associations and administrations of the valley.

Luigi Cantamessa, head of Fondazione FS Italiane, was convinced of the importance of the initiative, thanks to the efforts of Giorgio Ferraris, mayor of Ormea who says: "The Ceva-Ormea is the most important work that the State made in the valley. It is our moral duty not to allow to be lost. The railway has changed the local economy, bringing industry and tourism. It will not solve all the problems, but can it give a hope of recovery, in view of a conversion, that values the agriculture of mountains and tourism ".

Trains (except on December 8, "Christmas rush") will start at 9.05 and will return to Torino Porta Nuova at 19.51. There will be stops in Lingotto, Carmagnola, Savigliano, Fossano, Mondovi, Ceva, to enter then in val Tanaro, with stops in Nucetto, Bagnasco, Pievetta of Priola, Garessio and Ormea. In the spring, there will be other trips, with itineraries "white," "green" and "yellow." The composition of the convoy is still top secret. There should be three carriages "100 porte" with 80 seats each, with wooden seats, a service wagon and a locomotive (in September and October a diesel D345, in December an old steam locomotive).

Starts the recovery of the "Settebello", it will be a luxury tourist train

Arrived this morning in Voghera, in the Officina  Manutenzione Ciclica of Trenitalia, the last surviving example of ETR300, the legendary "Settebello".

It is a fast luxury electric train, one of the symbols of Made in Italy, remained in service from the '50s until the' 90s.

In the Lombard workshops, supervised by Fondazione FS, will be performed the remediation and cleaning of the convoy.

Following Fondazione FS will prepare a draft comprehensive restructuring of ETR300, since its fine original interiors have been distorted by a restyling dating back to the '80s.

The cost of restoration, to be implemented with funds that will be found through European calls for funding is estimated at around 8 million Euro.

Goal: to bring the "Settebello" (the name derives from the seven of diamonds playing card and the fact that it is made up of seven carriages) to its former glory, and use it as an high level tourist train.

The trip transfer from Falconara Marittima site - where the train stood for years - took place on the night between 17 and 18 August.

The convoy, dragged by the locomotive E656.023 purposely arrived from Pistoia, was escorted from the technical staff of Fondazione FS.

The complex transfer of "Settebello" was made possible by a meticulous technical preparation of the carts, of the hooking members and brake, operations carried out in collaboration with Trenitalia and necessary to ensure the safety of the journey, because of the prolonged inactivity of the convoy.

Built by Breda in Sesto San Giovanni and handed over to FS in 1952, the groundbreaking train for the time, could easily reach 180 km / h.

However, beyond the futuristic aesthetics and the technological content it was a triumph of Italian design.

Under the guidance of the renowned architects Gio Ponti and Carlo De Carli, the best professionals of that time helped to create the furnishings, the embellishments and the interior decorations.

Also revolutionary the observation lounges which allowed passengers a front panoramic vision of the trip.

More than 30 million for Ticino railways

To support the operation and maintenance of railway infrastructure in the period 2017-2020 the Confederation should allocate 13.2 billion francs. This was decided by the commission of Transport of the Council of States unanimously approving a project of the Federal Council.

A today’s note of parliamentary Services indicates that, compared to the current reference period (2013-2016), will be available up to 700 million francs more a year for the maintenance of quality and for the funding.

Just over half is destined to the Swiss Federal Railways (7.6 billion), while just over a third to private railways (4.9 billion). For the first time the financing of the full amount is secured by means of the new Fund for the railway infrastructure.

As it regards the FFS, 1.5 billion are provided for exercise and 6.2 for maintenance and investment. A contribution exceeding one billion even for BLS (1.2 billion, of which 0.4 for exercise and 0.8 for maintenance and investments).

For Centovallina, the Railways Bus Regional Ticino (FART) are provided 25.3 million (8.2 per year and 17.1 per maintenance and investments). As for the Railway Lugano - Ponte Tresa (FLP), it was established a contribution of 7.7 million (3.5 per year and 4.2 for maintenance and investments).

The ETR.302 moved in Voghera

The promise made a few weeks ago by the Director of Fondazione FS Italiane Luigi Cantamessa becomes reality.

The ETR.302, Settebello the only one left, is being transferred from Falconara, where he stayed for many years, to Voghera where it will arrive in the coming days.

It is still unclear which kind of repairs will be done, whether conservative or functional but, given the situation of the train, this is a great news.

Vandals in action in the station of Miramare

Yesterday the façade of the station was daubed with spray paint.

It was so undermined the complex restoration efforts cost 20 thousand Euro and performed in recent months by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, in consultation with the Monuments and Fine Arts Office, considered the historical interest of the fine Hapsburg-era building.

The Regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility Nicola Benedetto, together with the director of the Office Transportation Donato Arcieri and the regional director of Trenitalia Mariella Polla has participated today in the inauguration ceremony of the train ATR 220 024 at the station of Potenza Centrale.

This is the fourth train with a new technology that joins the other three came into operation a few months ago and used by Trenitalia on regional rail services (Potenza Foggia and Potenza Salerno).

Unlike the other, it was purchased by the Basilicata Region with funds from the Community Programme Fesr 2007-2013 and granted in use to Trenitalia.

Among the most important technical characteristics of the train, the maximum operating speed of 130 km / h, the capacity of 152 fixed seats, 7 extendable seats, 2 Prm positions for people with reduced mobility; equipping with modern Scmt and Ssc security systems, 2 toilets including 1 for disabled persons. Air conditioning and ventilation system, video surveillance.

In addition, the railway complex is equipped with internal and external monitoring system, made up of 12 indoor cameras and 6 external cameras and an image of the internal camera recorder. The vehicle is also equipped with electronic display on the head, internal monitor for passenger information and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Councilor   has also renewed its commitment to establish - always along the route Taranto-Ferrandina-Potenza-Salerno - the extension of the "Freccia" train today limiteded to Salerno, in order to improve the services and connections of regional services with those of the High speed on the line Salerno-Napoli.

RFI/Tuscany, Grosseto: in the station a new computerized device manages and controls rail traffic

In the station of Grosseto rail traffic is managed and controlled by computer systems and technologies of last generation.

Over the weekend, in fact, it was activated the new Central Computerized System (ACC), which replaced the previous operating electromechanical technology from the '60s.

The ACC system operates according to a vision and allows operators, exploiting the potential offered by electronics of last generation and to computer technology, a more efficient management of rail traffic and a better operability in the management of critical issues, an increase of quality and of the standards  of regularity and punctuality; a higher traffic capacity; and an improvement of  the reliability of railway systems (rails, switches, signals, power line trains) by optimizing maintenance processes with predictive diagnostics and by reducing trip times of technical teams, in case of failures or anomalies.

The installation will be fully integrated into the Command and Control System (CCS) of the line Tyrrhenian Tuscany, managed by the central place of Pisa, allowing greater synergy in the management and regulation of traffic within a true railway "control tower ".

All this with a better relationship between management costs and performance: improving the quality of infrastructure and greater efficiency in the maintenance process.

The total investment, including the works of technological fitting of the station, was around 15 million euro.
