Italferr strengthens its presence in Africa with two new contracts in Egypt by signing with the Egyptian Railways (Enr) a construction management contract for the modernization of signaling systems on corridors Benha - Zagazig - El-Ismailia - Port Said and Zagazig - Abu- Kebir.

The first section of the railway Rocchetta - Avellino reopens at historic trains.
At 14.45 on Monday 22 August, thanks to the initiative of Fondazione FS, the first convoy, from Foggia, stop in the station of Rocchetta Sant'Antonio with destination Conza - Andretta, from where it leaves for the return trip at 19:55.
It will be the first train to retrace the historical tracks, closed to traffic since 2010, reopened after the renovation works carried out thanks to Fondazione FS and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana.

The line Avellino-Rocchetta Sant'Antonio, inaugurated in 1895 by Francesco De Sanctis, is 120 km long and runs through the regions of Campania, Basilicata and Puglia, along the valleys of the Sabato, the Calore and the Ofanto rivers, and passing by 217 meters above sea level of Rocchetta to 672 meters of Nusco.

The trip transfer from Falconara Marittima site - where the train stood for years - took place on the night between 17 and 18 August.
The convoy, dragged by the locomotive E656.023 purposely arrived from Pistoia, was escorted from the technical staff of Fondazione FS.
The complex transfer of "Settebello" was made possible by a meticulous technical preparation of the carts, of the hooking members and brake, operations carried out in collaboration with Trenitalia and necessary to ensure the safety of the journey, because of the prolonged inactivity of the convoy.

The Regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility Nicola Benedetto, together with the director of the Office Transportation Donato Arcieri and the regional director of Trenitalia Mariella Polla has participated today in the inauguration ceremony of the train ATR 220 024 at the station of Potenza Centrale.
This is the fourth train with a new technology that joins the other three came into operation a few months ago and used by Trenitalia on regional rail services (Potenza Foggia and Potenza Salerno).

In the station of Grosseto rail traffic is managed and controlled by computer systems and technologies of last generation.
Over the weekend, in fact, it was activated the new Central Computerized System (ACC), which replaced the previous operating electromechanical technology from the '60s.
The ACC system operates according to a vision and allows operators, exploiting the potential offered by electronics of last generation and to computer technology, a more efficient management of rail traffic and a better operability in the management of critical issues, an increase of quality and of the standards of regularity and punctuality; a higher traffic capacity; and an improvement of the reliability of railway systems (rails, switches, signals, power line trains) by optimizing maintenance processes with predictive diagnostics and by reducing trip times of technical teams, in case of failures or anomalies.
The installation will be fully integrated into the Command and Control System (CCS) of the line Tyrrhenian Tuscany, managed by the central place of Pisa, allowing greater synergy in the management and regulation of traffic within a true railway "control tower ".
All this with a better relationship between management costs and performance: improving the quality of infrastructure and greater efficiency in the maintenance process.
The total investment, including the works of technological fitting of the station, was around 15 million euro.
